JioCinema has unveiled the trailer for its upcoming fictional war-room drama series titled ‘Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond,’ offering viewers a glimpse into India’s largest defense operation.
Scheduled for release on April 25, 2024, the series promises to decode modern warfare, transcending physical borders to encompass social media, digital tactics, and covert political moves.
Directed by Santosh Singh and produced by Sunjoy Waddhwa and Comall Sunjay W from Sphereorigins Multivision Private Limited, the series features a stellar ensemble cast including Jimmy Shergill, Lara Dutta, Ashutosh Rana, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Prasanna, the platform said in a press release.
Set against the backdrop of real-life events, the series explores the intricacies of India’s defense strategies with never-before-seen aerial sequences and a powerful narrative capturing the essence of the nation’s biggest defense operation.
Jimmy Shergill expressed his excitement, highlighting the challenging yet rewarding experience of portraying a role in India’s first war-room focused web series. He commended the dedication of the entire cast and crew, recalling intense shooting schedules that demonstrated their commitment to the project.
Ashutosh Rana echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the learning experience and growth as an actor while delving into the complexities of India’s politics and defense philosophy through his role in the series.
Ashish Vidyarthi, who plays the role of the NSA chief, shared insights into his preparation process, crediting discussions with defense personnel for adding authenticity to his portrayal. He praised director Santosh Singh for his attention to detail, ensuring authenticity in every aspect of the characters.
Lara Dutta, portraying a power-broker, discussed the challenges of depicting the urgency and pressure within a war-room, appreciating the collaborative effort of the cast and crew in bringing authenticity to the scenes.
Prasanna, portraying a brave-heart Group Captain, expressed his honor in playing the role of a national hero and shared his admiration for the courage displayed by the actual members of the operation. He reminisced about meeting individuals involved in the operation, describing it as a memorable fan-boy moment.
