In its first quarterly financial reporting after getting listed via a mega IPO few days earlier, Jio Platforms Ltd. yesterday reported a 13.7 per cent rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 8,389 crore for the September 2026 quarter, driven by subscriber gains, higher realisations per user and healthy growth in digital services.
The digital and telecom company’s consolidated revenue from operations rose 11.3 per cent to Rs 40,475 crore during the quarter under review, according to a regulatory filing, a PTI report stated yesterday.
The September-quarter scorecard is the company’s first since its stellar listing earlier this week, and the earnings briefing also marks the first time Managing Director Akash Ambani addressed investors on a quarterly results call.
The company attributed the growth to higher revenues, operating leverage and margin expansion. However, finance costs rose 40.3 per cent to Rs 3,009 crore, partly reflecting the capitalisation of 5G assets in March 2026.
JPL’s subscriber base increased to 542.4 million at the end of September, with net additions of 9.1 million during the quarter.
Average revenue per user (ARPU) rose 3.5 per cent year-on-year to Rs 218.8 per month. Data traffic grew 22.1 per cent to 71.3 billion GB, while monthly data consumption per customer increased to 44.2 GB.
The company crossed the 300-million mark in its 5G subscriber base and 30 million in fixed broadband connections during the quarter.
Its 5G user base expanded by 66 million over the past 12 months, while fixed broadband additions stood at 7.3 million. AirFiber, with 15.1 million subscribers, accounted for more than 75 per cent of the company’s fixed broadband additions over the last year.
In a strategic development, JPL successfully completed its Rs 30,188-crore initial public offering (IPO) and its shares were listed on the NSE and BSE on October 28, 2026.
The company said Rs 27,500 crore from the net proceeds had been utilised towards repayment of external commercial borrowings availed by its subsidiary Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, with the balance earmarked for general corporate purposes.
JPL Managing Director Akash M Ambani said the quarterly performance reflected the strength of the company’s 5G network and the growing reach of its broadband and digital services.
He said the company would continue investing in satellite communications, 6G intellectual property and artificial intelligence embedded in its voice and data services.
