Actress Ameesha Patel opened up about the incredible fan craze surrounding her and Hrithik Roshan after the release of their blockbuster debut film ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’. During an upcoming episode of ‘India’s Best Dancer Season 5’, Ameesha revealed that many fans wanted their on-screen romance to turn into a real-life love story.
According to a SET press release, Ameesha spoke about the overwhelming response to her chemistry with Hrithik Roshan in the 2000 hit film. She said audiences were so emotionally attached to the pair that many were disappointed when Hrithik married Sussanne Khan.
Sharing an interesting memory, Ameesha revealed that fans had even created wedding albums imagining her and Hrithik as husband and wife. She said many believed they were the perfect couple and hoped they would eventually get married in real life.
The actress also recalled receiving emotional letters from fans after Hrithik’s wedding. Some wrote that they were heartbroken because their favourite on screen couple had not become a real life couple. Ameesha said fans would often tell them that they looked perfect together and repeatedly urged them to get married.
Looking back at those moments, Ameesha said the immense love from fans was a reflection of how deeply people connected with the characters they played in ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’. She added that sincere performances often leave a lasting impact on audiences, making it difficult for some viewers to separate reel life from real life.
Expressing her gratitude, Ameesha thanked the audience for the affection they have continued to shower on her over the years. She said she feels blessed that the film and its characters still hold a special place in people’s hearts even decades after its release. Ameesha Patel will be seen sharing these memories during ‘India’s Best Dancer Season 5’, where she joins the show as a special guest.
