The Indian Express Group and Times Group have partnered with OpenAI to help people discover their news content more easily through ChatGPT.
According to reports by The Indian Express and The Times of India, selected news summaries and excerpts from The Indian Express and The Financial Express can appear in relevant ChatGPT responses. Users will also see the news source and links to the original articles.
The Indian Express Group’s partnership will cover both new and older content in seven languages English, Hindi, Marathi, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali and Gujarati.
The Indian Express Group and OpenAI will also explore the use of AI technology for archive research, data analysis, translation and reader services.
The Times Group, through Bennett, Coleman & Co Ltd (BCCL), has also partnered with OpenAI. Its publications, including The Times of India and The Economic Times, will be available for discovery through ChatGPT, with links and source details.
Both partnerships aim to make trusted news easier to find through AI while directing readers to the original news websites. The Indian Express Group has also said that OpenAI will not have any role in its editorial decisions.
