Amazon and Disney have announced the new ‘Hey Disney!’ voice assistant is now officially available for Echo devices in the United States.
The new voice assistant, dubbed the ‘Disney Magical Companion’, is based on Alexa technology.
In the United States, users can now buy it “as an annual, auto-renewing subscription in the Alexa Skills Store for use on their supported Echo devices at home.” Furthermore, Hey Disney! is included as part of an Amazon Kids+ subscription,” Amazon said in a blog post on Thursday.
“Hello, Disney!” “This is the first time an Alexa Custom Assistant (ACA) is available for customers at home on supported Echo devices and brings together an array of content featuring 20+ characters from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and other beloved franchises,” it added.
Because of ACA, a comprehensive solution, Disney was able to create an assistant with a custom voice (the Disney Magical Companion) and wake word (“Hey Disney!”), IANS reported from San Francisco.
Customers simply say, “Alexa, introduce me to Hey Disney,” to purchase and activate the service.
After purchasing the experience and activating it, users can ask Alexa, “Hey Disney, start the magic,” to learn how the Disney Magical Companion works alongside Alexa.
“Hello, Disney!” “Alexa Skills represents the art of what’s possible when two major corporations combine their creative and technical expertise,” said Mark Yoshitake, General Manager and Director of Alexa Skills.
“This is a whole new way to bring Disney storytelling to life for fans of all ages, and we are thrilled to offer a magical, new experience for customers to enjoy on their Echo devices,” Yoshitake added.
In January of this year, Amazon and Disney announced their collaboration to launch this new voice assistant at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023.
