Renowned filmmaker Hansal Mehta has unveiled plans for the third installment of his highly successful ‘Scam’ series, titled ‘Scam 2010 – The Subrata Roy Saga’.
The upcoming series will delve into the life and controversies surrounding businessman Subrata Roy.
Based on the book ‘Sahara: The Untold Story’ by Tamal Bandyopadhyay, the SonyLIV series will be produced by Applause Entertainment in collaboration with Studio Next, with Mehta at the helm.
‘Scam 2010’ will chronicle Roy’s journey from rags to riches, exploring the various accusations and scandals he faced, including chit-fund manipulations and alleged fake investors, leading to his arrest in 2014.
With billions of rupees still unaccounted for, the aftermath of the scam continues to impact the financial landscape.
Expressing his excitement, Mehta stated, ‘Scam’ is not just a franchise for me; it is a chronicling of our times. I’m thrilled to collaborate again with Applause and Sony LIV to bring this larger-than-life story alive.”
The new season follows the critically acclaimed ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story‘ and ‘Scam 2003: The Telgi Story’, which captivated audiences with their gripping narratives.
Sameer Nair, Managing Director of Applause Entertainment, highlighted the series’ cultural significance, stating, “With ‘Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga’, we are poised to raise the bar even higher, offering audiences an immersive journey into the life and times of one of the most audacious and ambitious minds in Indian business history.”
Danish Khan from SonyLIV expressed confidence in the series’ success, emphasizing its consistent popularity on the platform and anticipation for the newest instalment.
While the cast for ‘Scam 2010’ is yet to be announced, anticipation is already building for Mehta’s latest venture.
