GreyMatters to lead communication efforts for CGIAR Gender Research Conference

New Delhi,22-September-2023, By IBW Team

GreyMatters Communications & Consulting, a leading Indian PR firm, has been awarded the prestigious communications and media mandate for the upcoming bi-annual CGIAR Gender Research Conference.
The conference is scheduled to take place in New Delhi from October 9 to 12 and is jointly hosted by the CGIAR GENDER Impact Platform and ICAR. This significant event will convene global experts and researchers to address critical issues related to gender and social inequalities within the agriculture sector. Notably, the conference follows the successful conclusion of the recent G20 Summit.

Dr. Navneet Anand, the founder Director of GreyMatters, expressed gratitude for being entrusted with this significant assignment, saying, “We are honored to have been entrusted with this prestigious assignment for a global event of such magnitude. We are grateful to CGIAR for their trust in us. What makes this task challenging, yet special, is the demographically and culturally diverse audience that we need to cater to, along with the nuanced messaging required.”

Marianne Gadeberg, Strategic Communications & Content consultant at CGIAR GENDER Impact Platform, highlighted GreyMatters’ extensive experience across various sectors and their ability to navigate the complex intersection of policy, politics, and research. She stated, “With GreyMatters, we have a clear plan to effectively capture and communicate the rich deliberations at the high-level conference to a diverse set of audiences.”

Dr. Anand emphasized the importance of this conference in India, where agriculture plays a central role in the economy. He noted, “Despite India being predominantly an agrarian country, there is minimal interest in agriculture. The conversation around agricultural issues is muted, especially regarding gender issues. Our challenge is to amplify the significance of this conference, which brings together a multitude of global experts with deep and diverse experiences in social and action research.”

GreyMatters is committed to showcasing the role of gender in food systems and initiating important conversations through various media and social media platforms. They also plan to leverage discussions from the G20 Summit to enrich their narratives and bring them into the public sphere.

The CGIAR is a global research partnership dedicated to addressing food, land, and water systems challenges in the face of a climate crisis, with a focus on achieving a food-secure future. The CGIAR GENDER Impact Platform specifically synthesizes and amplifies research, builds capacity, and sets directions to enable CGIAR’s maximum impact in gender-related aspects of agriculture.

ICAR, on the other hand, serves as the apex body in India for coordinating and managing research and education in agriculture, including horticulture, fisheries, and animal sciences. It oversees a vast network of 113 ICAR institutes and 74 agricultural universities, making it one of the largest national agricultural systems globally.
