Gaurav Thaney has joined Zee group’s ZEE5 as senior vice-president of digital business.
OTT is a critical business of the Zee group and, therefore, significant leadership hiring has happened recently across all functions, including strategy, revenue, content and technology, he said in a LinkedIn post.
Gaurav would lead revenue for ZEE5 across regions and strategise the growth agenda.
Email sent to ZEE5 seeking confirmation about Gaurav’s joining dates remained unanswered till the time of filing this report.
Prior to joining ZEE5, Gaurav was with Softbank Oyo JV as business head for their emerging business. He led P&L teams across sales, sales strategy, operations, product management and marketing for the business.
Before that he spent 15+ years across Jio and Airtel and was part of their digital businesses. At Jio, he was part of the start-up team and led products innovation and strategy for the digital unit and at Airtel, he was marketing head for the $500 million separate business unit and led go-to-market for their mobile Internet business for South Asia.
He is a technology and business management graduate from IIT, Bombay and completed a leadership program from Stanford University, USA.
