The first look of the upcoming original film ‘Jab Khuli Kitaab’, featuring veteran actors Pankaj Kapur and Dimple Kapadia, has been unveiled, offering a glimpse into a tender and emotionally layered late-life romance. The direct-to-digital feature is set to premiere on Z5 (Hindi) on March 6.
According to a UNI report, the film is presented by Applause Entertainment and produced under the Shoestrap Films banner. It is written and directed by Saurabh Shukla and is based on his original play of the same name, bringing to the screen a poignant and humorous exploration of relationships and human emotions.
‘Jab Khuli Kitaab’ tells the story of Gopal and Anusuya, a couple whose decades-long marriage is shaken by an unexpected revelation. As long-held truths begin to surface, their family navigates a complex mix of emotions, at times deeply moving and often laced with humour. At its heart, the narrative explores themes of love, companionship, forgiveness, and the possibility of rediscovering each other after a lifetime together.
The ensemble cast also features Aparshakti Khurana as a young lawyer whose modern outlook adds a fresh dynamic to the evolving family drama. Supporting performances by Samir Soni, Nauheed Cyrusi and Manasi Parekh further enrich the emotional depth of the story.
Kaveri Das, Chief Channel Officer, &TV and Business Head for Hindi Z5, described the film as a celebration of enduring love, saying it reflects stories that are both fresh and deeply relatable while highlighting the beauty of second chances and forgiveness. She added that the on-screen pairing of Kapur and Kapadia promises a rare blend of warmth, humour and emotional authenticity.
Blending nostalgia with contemporary emotional depth, ‘Jab Khuli Kitaab’ presents a heartfelt portrayal of a marriage tested by truth and the possibility of falling in love all over again.
