Tamil cinema icon Thalapathy Vijay on Thursday unveiled a striking new poster from his upcoming film ‘Jana Nayagan’, confirming that the much-awaited trailer will be released on January 3 at 6.45 pm. The poster features Vijay in an intense avatar, gun in hand and eyes reflecting resolve, hinting at the film’s high-voltage political and action-driven storyline.
According to a UNI report, the production team officially announced that the trailer will be launched simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Sharing the update on social media, the makers tweeted, “#JanaNayaganTrailer #JanNetaTrailer #JanaNayakuduTrailer. Tamil, Telugu & Hindi trailers are releasing on Jan 3rd at 6.45 PM,” further fuelling anticipation among fans across regions.
‘Jana Nayagan’ holds special significance as it marks Vijay’s 69th and final film. The actor had earlier announced his decision to step away from cinema at the film’s audio launch event held in Malaysia, a declaration that has added to the emotional and commercial buzz surrounding the project. With excitement running high, the political action drama is slated for a grand theatrical release on January 9, 2026.
The film will hit screens in its original Tamil version along with dubbed Telugu and Hindi versions on the same day. Reports suggest that, unlike ‘Leo’ and ‘The Greatest of All Time’, ‘Jana Nayagan’ will also see a wide Hindi release across multiplex chains, significantly expanding its reach in North India.
However, the film is expected to face tough box-office competition from Prabhas-starrer The Raja Saab, which is also scheduled for release on January 9, setting the stage for a closely watched festive clash. Trade analysts believe the showdown could emerge as one of the biggest box-office battles of the season.
Directed by H. Vinoth, ‘Jana Nayagan’ is a mass action entertainer set against a strong political backdrop. While the film is rumoured to be inspired by the Telugu hit Bhagavanth Kesari, the makers have not offered any official confirmation.
The ensemble cast includes Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani, Narain and several others in pivotal roles, adding further weight to what is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases of 2026.
