Apple TV has acquired ‘Dustfall’, a six-episode crime drama starring Emmy Award nominee Anna Torv, with the series set to premiere in 2027. The atmospheric crime thriller centres on a sexual assault investigation that takes a darker turn when a key suspect is found dead.
Torv plays seasoned detective Antigone ‘Tig’ Pollard, whose pursuit of the truth forces her to confront long-buried secrets from her adolescence.
Billed as a tropical noir, ‘Dustfall’ explores a world where victims are doubted, predators remain hidden in plain sight and the legal system often falls short.
The series, produced by Soapbox Pictures and Moonriver Television, is based on Vikki Petraitis’ novel ‘The Unbelieved’, which won the Davitt Awards Readers’ Choice honour.
BAFTA Award nominee Dianne Taylor has written the series for the screen, alongside Stuart Page, Belinda Chayko and Beatrix Christian. Emma Freeman directs the drama and also serves as an executive producer.
The ensemble cast includes BAFTA and Emmy Award nominee Juliet Stevenson, alongside Peter Fenton, Bert LaBonté, Zoe Phillips, Kate Box, Lila McGuire, Ling Cooper Tang, Gemma Chua-Tran, Alice Ansara, Martin Sacks, Jay Ryan and Luke J. Morgan, among others.
Freeman executive produces with Xavier Marchand and Daisy Gilbert for Moonriver, Deb Balderstone for Soapbox Pictures, and Torv. Brett Sleigh and Rachel Okine executive produce for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
The series is a co-production for ABC, in association with the BBC, ZDF and Screen Australia, with Federation International handling worldwide distribution.
Set and filmed on Australia’s Gold Coast, ‘Dustfall’ will premiere on Apple TV in 2027, except in Australia, where it will screen on ABC and ABC iview.
Its release in certain territories will also be subject to premiere rights held by the BBC and ZDF.
