Lily Collins is packing her designer bags once again — this time for a summer filled with amore in Rome and romance in Paris. Netflix’s beloved dramedy ‘Emily in Paris’ is gearing up to begin production for its fifth season this May, with filming kicking off in Rome before returning to its iconic Parisian backdrop.
As per ANI, the news comes via The Hollywood Reporter, which confirmed that all main cast members will return, including Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie), Ashley Park (Mindy), Lucas Bravo (Gabriel), Samuel Arnold (Julien), Bruno Gouery (Luc), William Abadie (Antoine), Lucien Laviscount (Alfie), Thalia Besson (Genevieve), and Eugenio Franceschini (Marcello). Notably absent is Camille Razat, who played Camille through the show’s first four seasons.
One of the most surprising developments, however, is the return of Lucas Bravo as Gabriel. The actor had previously expressed frustration with the direction his character was taking, calling his role “melancholic, sad, depressed, and lost” compared to the otherwise light-hearted tone of the show. “It’s a comedy—everybody is having fun around me… and I’m just slowly sinking,” Bravo had said in an earlier interview, casting doubts on his future with the show. His comeback suggests that Gabriel may finally get a more cheerful arc in the upcoming season.
While specific plot details remain under wraps, Season 4 left Emily at a professional and personal crossroads. With Agence Grateau launching a new office in Rome, Sylvie offered Emily the opportunity to lead the Italian branch—conveniently placing her close to new love interest Marcello. At the same time, things were left unresolved with Gabriel, keeping the romantic tension alive.
Series creator Darren Star has hinted at a multi-city narrative: “Emily can spend time in Rome. She can spend time in Paris, too. She’s not leaving Paris,” he clarified, adding playfully, “She did not change her Instagram handle to Emily in Rome.”
Season 5 is expected to premiere later this year, though Netflix has yet to announce an exact release date. What’s certain is that fans can look forward to a fresh blend of Italian glamour, Parisian charm, and plenty of stylish drama as Emily continues navigating her complicated life abroad.
