The much-loved comedy franchise is set for a comeback as ‘Bhagam Bhag 2’ gears up to bring back the trademark chaos and humour nearly two decades after the original film. The sequel will see Akshay Kumar return to the centre stage, this time paired opposite two leading ladies, promising a fresh dose of comedy, confusion and romance.
According to a UNI report, the upcoming film will also feature Manoj Bajpayee and Paresh Rawal in key roles, adding further depth to the ensemble cast. The project is expected to build on the legacy of the original with a new storyline centred on mistaken identities, comic situations and escalating chaos.
While Meenakshi Chaudhary was already confirmed as one of the female leads, the makers have now roped in Ayesha Khan as the second heroine opposite Kumar. Both actors will play pivotal roles in the narrative, though the female lead opposite Bajpayee is yet to be finalised.
Chaudhary, known for her performances in ‘Guntur Kaaram’, ‘The Greatest of All Time’, ‘Lucky Bhaskar’ and ‘Sankranthiki Vasthunam’, will make her Bollywood debut with the sequel. Khan, who has previously appeared in ‘Jaat’ and ‘Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2’, recently drew attention for her dance number ‘Shararat’ in ‘Dhurandhar’. The sequel marks her first major Hindi film project in a prominent role.
The film will be directed by Raaj Shaandilya, best known for Dream Girl. He takes over the franchise from Priyadarshan, who was not retained due to his three back-to-back film commitments with Akshay Kumar.
Production on ‘Bhagam Bhag 2’ is expected to begin in the coming months, with the makers aiming to recreate the magic of the original while offering a contemporary comic narrative.
