In a recent development, it has been confirmed that Donald Glover and his brother Stephen Glover are teaming up to work on the highly anticipated ‘Lando‘ Calrissian series for Lucasfilm and Disney+.
This news comes after Justin Simien’s departure from the project. The Glover brothers will take charge of writing the series and are planning to have Donald reprise his role as Lando Calrissian, a character he portrayed in the 2018 hit ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story,’ Lucasfilm declined to comment on the matter
The original character of Lando Calrissian was played by Billy Dee Williams in ‘The Empire Strikes Back‘ and ‘Return of the Jedi.’ However, in 2018, Donald Glover took on the mantle of the iconic role in Ron Howard’s ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story,’ where he starred alongside Alden Ehrenreich, who portrayed a younger Han Solo, as well as Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson, PTI reported.
It should be noted that Justin Simien, known for directing Disney’s ‘Haunted Mansion,’ departed from the ‘Lando‘ project last year. The Glovers stepped in to develop the series, well before the recent Writers Strike,
Fans of the ‘Star Wars‘ universe are undoubtedly excited to see Donald Glover’s return as Lando Calrissian in this new venture, as the talented actor brought a fresh and charismatic take on the character in his previous appearance.
With the Glover brothers at the helm, the ‘Lando‘ series holds great promise and anticipation among viewers eager to delve further into the adventures of this beloved character.
