DocuBay releases ‘The Dupatta Killer’ in multi language

New Delhi, 24 April, 2025, By IBW Team

DocuBay

DocuBay, the global documentary streaming platform, has broadened access to its chilling true-crime documentary ‘The Dupatta Killer’ by releasing it in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

This multilingual expansion is aimed at connecting with viewers across India, making the critically acclaimed film more accessible to regional audiences. The English version of the documentary was originally released globally on March 21, 2025.

As per a press release issued by DocuBay, the move is part of the platform’s effort to democratize storytelling by removing language as a barrier.

The film, which has sparked conversations nationwide, dives deep into the case of Mahanand Naik—a man accused of murdering 16 women but convicted for just one. His method was gruesome: he would gain the trust of his victims under the pretext of marriage and ultimately strangle them using their own dupattas. The documentary has earned critical praise for its thorough research, sensitive approach, and compelling narrative structure.

Directed by Patrick Graham and produced by Samar Khan under the Juggernaut Productions banner, ‘The Dupatta Killer’ examines the psychological makeup of Naik, alongside systemic failures in the justice system that allowed him to operate undetected for years. Through survivor testimonies and expert commentary, the documentary sheds light on the social and cultural vulnerabilities exploited by the killer, especially the pressure surrounding marriage in conservative Indian society.

Since its release, the documentary has been widely lauded by both Indian and international critics, with many describing it as a “deeply disturbing yet essential” watch. DocuBay has now added a dedicated section to its website that supports multiple languages, providing regional viewers with detailed access and information about the documentary.

The Dupatta Killer’ is currently streaming on DocuBay in all four languages—English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu—and continues to draw attention for its harrowing yet necessary spotlight on crime, justice, and gender dynamics in India.
