The 77th annual Emmy Awards are shaping up to be a landmark year for two of the industry’s entertainment giants The Walt Disney Company and HBO/HBO Max. Based on official press releases, Disney has earned a total of 137 nominations, while HBO and HBO Max have set a new personal record with 142 nominations, bringing the combined total to 279 across hundreds of categories and titles.
Disney’s nominations span an expansive slate of its content brands and studios, including ABC, FX, Hulu, Disney+, Disney Television Studios, Marvel, Lucasfilm, National Geographic, and more. Meanwhile, HBO and its streaming platform HBO Max have been recognized for a broad mix of dramas, comedies, documentaries, and limited series solidifying their standing as leaders in premium storytelling and production excellence.
Among Disney’s biggest contenders is ‘Andor’ from Lucasfilm, which leads the company’s charge with 14 nominations, including for Outstanding Drama Series. FX’s ‘The Bear’ secured 13 nominations, followed by ‘Dying for Sex’ with 9, and Hulu’s popular whodunit ‘Only Murders in the Building’ with 7. ABC’s ‘Abbott Elementary’ scored 6 nods, including Outstanding Comedy Series for the fourth consecutive year.
Disney’s game show division also had a breakthrough, with ABC dominating both Outstanding Game Show and Outstanding Host for a Game Show categories—earning nominations for ‘Celebrity Family Feud’, ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’, ‘Press Your Luck’, and ‘Jeopardy!’.
Not to be outdone, HBO Max led all platforms with 142 Emmy nominations, showcasing its rich variety of acclaimed content. ‘The White Lotus’ and ‘The Penguin’ each earned 24 nominations, tying as the most-nominated programs on the slate. ‘The Last of Us’ followed with 17 nominations, and Max Original comedy ‘Hacks’ impressed with 15. ‘The Pitt’, a newer drama on the network, earned a strong 13 nominations, highlighting HBO’s continued investment in fresh storytelling.
HBO’s other notable mentions include ‘House of the Dragon’, ‘Last Week Tonight with John Oliver’, ‘The Rehearsal’, ‘100 Foot Wave’, and documentaries like ‘Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story’ and ‘Pee-wee As Himself’. The network’s diverse range of programming, from nonfiction specials to prestige drama, reflects its ongoing influence across genres.
The 77th Emmy Awards will be presented on Sunday, September 14, celebrating the year’s most outstanding achievements in television. All nominated HBO and Max Original content is currently available for streaming on HBO Max, while Disney’s content can be found across Disney+, Hulu, and other affiliated platforms.
