NDTV Group has appointed Dinesh Singh as its Chief Technology and Information Officer, effective August 2026, marking a new milestone in his nearly 28-year association with the network. Singh brings 33 years of industry experience, with expertise spanning broadcast operations, engineering, information technology and digital platforms.
Singh previously served as the group’s Chief Technology Officer from May 2010, overseeing television network operations, corporate IT, broadcast technology, satellite communication systems and the digital OTT ecosystem. His responsibilities also included developing and managing end-to-end television broadcast facilities, digital workflows, business operations, budgeting and large-scale technology projects.
In his new role, Singh aims to integrate artificial intelligence into the organisation’s everyday operations. His approach centres on embedding AI into existing workflows rather than adopting the technology merely as a trend. The focus is on identifying practical applications that can improve efficiency and support the network’s evolving broadcast and digital operations.
Singh joined NDTV in February 1999 as Head of Broadcast Operations and Engineering, a position he held until May 2010. During this period, he gained recognition for his work in broadcast engineering, compression technology, news automation and satellite communication systems. His professional certifications include training in DVCPRO equipment, studio cameras, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 compression technologies, and Irdeto encryption systems.
His work has also received industry recognition. In 2004, the CBA recognised Singh for cost-effective engineering after he adopted MPEG-4 technology for a DSNG outside broadcast van, helping reduce satellite bandwidth costs. In 2008, the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), USA, honoured him under its International Broadcasting Excellence awards for designing a studio on wheels and its effective use during the 2009 General Election and Metro Nation, Delhi.
Before joining NDTV, Singh worked as Manager – Projects at Cinecita Compotronics Pvt. Ltd. from November 1996 to January 1999. During his tenure, he completed India’s first digital studio project featuring nine cameras each in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The robotics-based camera systems eliminated the need for camera operators inside the two Houses, and the project was completed in eight months.
His other assignments included a film-based project at Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad and a project for Bangladesh National Open University. The latter involved setting up studio and production control room facilities, audio studios, an FM broadcasting station, a tape library, post-production facilities and a microwave radio link to a local government channel.
Earlier in his career, Singh worked as a Senior Engineer in the Sony Broadcast and Professional Equipment Division at New Video Limited from January 1994 to October 1996. His responsibilities included servicing and repairing U-Matic, Betacam SP and Digital Betacam video tape recorders and camcorders, along with video switchers and routers.
Singh holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree and a postgraduate diploma in business management, combining technical expertise with business and operational experience. His appointment reflects his long association with NDTV and his involvement in the development and management of the network’s broadcast and digital technology infrastructure.
