Dangal TV is set to launch its new fiction show ‘Sohni – Aur Nahi Koi Honi’, a heartwarming drama that explores beauty, love and self-worth through the story of a young woman who refuses to let society’s judgments define her. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Punjab, the show is built around the central thought, ‘Surat Nahi, Seerat’, highlighting the importance of character over physical appearance.
According to a press release, the show stars Indraxi Kanjilal as Sohni, who challenges the conventional image of a television heroine. She wears thick spectacles, has prominent front teeth, a dusky complexion and prefers simple clothes. Despite being teased and judged for her appearance, Sohni remains confident in her values and does not allow other people’s opinions to determine her self-worth.
Sohni lost her parents at a young age and was forced to leave school. She takes responsibility for supporting herself and her younger brother Bittu, working hard to build a better life for her family. Her journey focuses on her resilience, kindness and determination as she navigates the challenges created by societal expectations around beauty.
Her life changes when she crosses paths with Kabeer Dhawan, played by Sumit Bharadwaj. Kabeer comes from a completely different world. A wealthy and charismatic young man from Chandigarh, he has grown up around fashion and glamour as the son of renowned fashion designer Mallika Dhawan. His privileged upbringing places him at the centre of a world where appearances and style play an important role.
The contrast between Kabeer’s world and Sohni’s simple life in Naushera forms an important part of the story. Kabeer becomes intrigued when he encounters a mysterious girl who keeps her face concealed behind a dupatta. The unexpected meeting gradually develops into a connection, eventually bringing the two characters closer despite their vastly different backgrounds.
At the centre of ‘Sohni – Aur Nahi Koi Honi’ is the message ‘Surat Nahi, Seerat’, which challenges the idea that beauty should be defined by physical appearance. Through Sohni’s journey, the show seeks to present a different kind of television heroine while focusing on individuality, self-respect, resilience and inner strength.
