Actors Willem Dafoe, Jonathan Bailey and Peter Dinklage have joined the cast of the upcoming film ‘Lincoln In The Bardo’.
According to a PTI report from Los Angeles today, the film is an adaptation of George Saunders’ bestselling 2017 novel of the same name. The story is set around US President Abraham Lincoln and explores his grief following the death of his young son, Willie.
Duke Johnson is directing the film and will also produce it alongside Saunders, the author of the original novel. Tom Hanks is also attached as a producer through his production company Playtone, along with longtime producing partner Gary Goetzman.
The movie will combine live-action with stop-motion animation, giving the adaptation a distinctive visual style. The story focuses on a single night in Lincoln’s life after Willie’s death and explores themes of grief, loss and the bond between a father and son.
The project is currently in development. Details about the characters played by Dafoe, Bailey and Dinklage, as well as the film’s release date, have not yet been announced.
