COLORS is set to launch a new romantic drama series, ‘Durga’, which will premiere on September 16. Produced by Magic Moments Motion Pictures, it is a love saga set against the backdrop of a majestic city and tells the compelling story of a tribal girl challenging societal norms to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor while navigating love and fierce opposition.
Set in the stunning city of Jodhpur, the narrative centers on Durga, a spirited tribal girl determined to break free from societal restrictions and become a doctor. Her goal is not just to heal the body but to mend the very fabric of society. Durga, portrayed by Pranali Rathod, strives to bridge societal gaps, bringing hope to her community through her audacious ambition, a press release from the TV channel said.
Despite her determination, Durga faces formidable resistance from Paani Bai—a powerful tribal woman committed to preserving the status quo. Played by Indira Krishnan, Paani Bai represents a fierce protector of tradition, ready to go to any lengths to maintain control in a changing world.
Rathod, reflecting on her role as Durga, says, “I am extremely honoured to portray such a strong and multi-layered character. Durga is a force to be reckoned with, named after the fierce goddess we all look up to. Her journey is about showing the world that your origins do not define your destiny.”
Indira Krishnan, who plays Paani Bai, expressed her excitement about portraying a character deeply rooted in tradition: “Paani Bai stands firm against Durga’s attempts to rise above her station, believing that tradition must be upheld.”
