Colors is set to launch its newest fiction drama, ‘Seher Hone Ko Hai’, a story that brings together emotion, generational struggle, and the fight for a young girl’s right to education.
The show traces the journey of a mother who was married off too early, yet chooses a braver, different path for her daughter, determined to give her a life she could never live.
Set in Lucknow, the narrative follows Kausar, who dreams of seeing her daughter Seher become a doctor. Standing firmly against her is Parvez, Seher’s father, who plans to marry her to Mahid—the grandson of the influential Osmaan family. As Seher’s future hangs in the balance, the tension between her aspirations and the expectations imposed upon her forms the emotional core of the story. The announcement comes via an official report introducing the new show and highlighting the themes it hopes to bring forward.
The story pivots when Mahid seeks treatment from Dr. Farid, and Seher finds herself at a crossroads that could change the course of her life. The show features a compelling ensemble: Parth Samthaan as Mahid, Rishita Kothari as Seher, Mahhi Vij as Kausar, Vaqaur Shaikh as Parvez, Apurva Agnihotri as Dr. Farid, and Deepak Qazir as Osmaan. ‘Seher Hone Ko Hai’ premieres on December 2 and will air every day at 10 pm on Colors and JioHotstar.
Speaking about his role, Parth Samthaan shared that Mahid is “a beautifully conflicted soul,” shaped by a troubled childhood and the burden of family expectations. He described it as one of his most challenging characters to date—emotionally unstable, wounded, yet defined by a strong sense of justice. “Returning to television with a character this layered feels incredibly special,” he said.
Mahhi Vij, who plays Kausar, called the role deeply personal. “Coming back to fiction with Kausar feels like coming home, both as an actor and as a mother,” she said. She expressed how the character’s silent strength and relentless determination to secure her daughter’s future resonated with her on a profound level.
Rishita Kothari, who brings Seher to life, said the character is a tribute to young girls whose dreams often remain unspoken. “Her dream of becoming a doctor is a continuation of a dream Kausar never got to chase,” she reflected. Transitioning from digital content to a powerful television role, she sees Seher as a beacon of courage and quiet resilience.
With ‘Seher Hone Ko Hai’, Colors brings forward a story that intertwines ambition, empowerment and the complexities of tradition—promising a fresh, moving narrative that champions the importance of a girl’s right to choose her own future.
