CNBC-TV18, India’s leading English business news channel, successfully hosted the second edition of its flagship event, the ‘Global Leadership Summit’, on November 7, 2025, at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.
Themed ‘The India Advantage’, the summit brought together global leaders, policymakers, startup founders, economists, technologists, and cultural icons to discuss India’s growing role in shaping the global economic and innovation landscape.
According to a press release, the summit featured a full day of keynote sessions, fireside chats, and panel discussions exploring the forces driving India’s economic ascent. These conversations delved into sectors such as technology, AI, markets, startups, real estate, and global trade spotlighting how India is emerging as one of the most significant players in a rapidly evolving global order.
Opening the summit, Shereen Bhan, Managing Editor of CNBC-TV18, highlighted the channel’s 26-year journey as India’s most trusted business news brand. She noted CNBC-TV18’s expanding digital reach, with a strong presence across YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, reaffirming its dominance beyond television.
The event began with an address by SEBI Chairperson Tuhin Kanta Pandey, who praised India’s “remarkable growth and resilience” and underscored the vital role of capital markets in achieving the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’. He emphasised that mutual fund participation has tripled in the last five years and spoke about SEBI’s consultative approach in policymaking to balance industry and investor interests.
A series of thought-provoking sessions followed, including ‘Risk, Returns & Resilience: Investing in the India Decade’ featuring leaders from Morgan Stanley, ICICI Prudential AMC, Axis Capital, and NSE, and ‘Embedded Intelligence: From Operations to Opportunity’, where OpenAI’s Oliver Jay shared insights on the role of AI in driving business efficiency. ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan discussed India’s leadership in the global space race, while Bain & Company’s Christophe De Vusser spoke on evolving boardroom priorities in a changing world economy.
Chief Economic Advisor Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran, in a fireside chat titled ‘The Growth Map: Where Is The Light At The End Of The Tunnel?’, shared that India’s GDP growth is now nearing 7 percent, supported by private CapEx and improving FDI inflows. He noted that India’s next growth phase would hinge on building competitiveness and positioning itself as a key player in global value chains.
Later, S. Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and IT, discussed India’s progressive approach to AI regulation, stressing that “innovation must take centre stage” while ensuring responsible governance. The day also featured compelling sessions with Niall Ferguson, B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, and K.V. Kamath, followed by discussions on finance, infrastructure, digital transformation, and inclusion.
Deepika Padukone and Sabyasachi Mukherjee shared a powerful conversation on ‘Crafting Legacy & The Global Canvas of Brand India’, highlighting how Indian creativity and craftsmanship are gaining global recognition. “Success and victory aren’t the same—success is personal, while victory is collective,” said Padukone, reflecting on her journey and her foundation’s work on mental health awareness.
The event also honoured Shaktikanta Das, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister and former RBI Governor, and Dr. Prathap C. Reddy, Founder and Chairman of Apollo Hospitals, as ‘Icons of Excellence of the Indian Economy’ for their contributions to India’s progress. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis outlined major infrastructure initiatives worth over Rs.4 lakh crore aimed at transforming the state’s development landscape.
The evening concluded with a keynote by Ryan McInerney, CEO of Visa Inc., on global consumer and commerce trends, followed by a live music performance and dinner.
