Producer Nidhi Dutta says the overwhelming response to ‘Border 2’ has reaffirmed the deep emotional bond audiences continue to share with the iconic war drama, as anticipation builds ahead of the launch of the film’s much-awaited song ‘ghar kab aaoge’.
Expressing gratitude for the love pouring in, Dutta said the team is hopeful that the upcoming film will allow viewers to relive the nostalgia associated with the 1997 blockbuster ‘Border’.
According to a PTI report from Mumbai, Dutta shared that the excitement around the song has been especially heartening, as it carries forward the legacy of one of the most memorable tracks from the original film. ‘Ghar kab aaoge’ brings together an exceptional lineup of singers — Sonu Nigam, Arijit Singh, Vishal Mishra and Diljit Dosanjh — making it one of the most notable musical collaborations in recent years.
The song features music originally composed by Anu Malik, now reimagined by Mithoon, with additional lyrics penned by Manoj Muntashir Shukla, building on the timeless words written by Javed Akhtar. Staying true to the soul of the original, the new version seeks to evoke the same sense of longing, sacrifice and patriotism that made the song resonate with generations.
The teaser of ‘ghar kab aaoge’ has already crossed over seven million views across platforms, reflecting the strong emotional connect audiences continue to feel with the Border franchise. The response, Dutta said, has reinforced the belief that stories rooted in emotion and national pride still hold immense power.
Released in 1997 and directed by J.P. Dutta, ‘Border’ went on to become a massive box-office success and remains one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated war films. With ‘Border 2’, the makers are looking to honour that legacy while introducing a new chapter that speaks to today’s audiences, without losing the essence that made the original a landmark film.
