Acclaimed filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane’s upcoming series ‘Black Warrant’ is set to premiere on Netflix on January 10, 2025, the OTT giant has announced.
‘Black Warrant’ marks the series debut of Zahan Kapoor, grandson of legendary actor Shashi Kapoor. This prison drama is inspired by true events and serves as a dramatized adaptation of the book ‘Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer’ by Sunil Gupta, a former Tihar Jail superintendent, and journalist-author Sunetra Choudhury, a PTI report from New Delhi stated.
Motwane, known for Netflix’s critically acclaimed ‘Sacred Games’, has co-created this series with Satyanshu Singh, who also co-directs alongside Ambiecka Pandit, Arkesh Ajay and Rohin Raveendran Nair.
The series delves into the lives of inmates and the justice system, offering a gripping narrative about crime, punishment, and redemption within the confines of India’s largest and most infamous jail. ‘Black Warrant’ is expected to provide a raw and realistic portrayal of life behind bars, resonating with fans of hard-hitting dramas.
