‘Black Warrant’, ‘Ba**ds Of Bollywood’ get SWA Awards’ top honours

‘Black Warrant’,

‘Black Warrant’ and Aryan Khan’s directorial debut ‘The Ba**ds Of Bollywood’* emerged as the biggest winners at the 7th Screenwriters Association (SWA) Awards held in Mumbai on Saturday (May 23). The awards celebrate films, web series and television shows that stood out for storytelling and writing in 2025.

Aryan Khan won the award for Best Dialogue in the Web Comedy/Musical/Romance category for ‘The Ba**ds Of Bollywood’*. The show also bagged Best Screenplay, shared by Khan, Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan.

In the Web Drama category, Satyanshu Singh and Arkesh Ajay won Best Dialogue for ‘Black Warrant’, while Anvita Dutt received the TV/Web Best Lyrics award for the song ‘Naseeba’ from the series, news agency reports stated yesterday.

The thriller ‘Stolen’ dominated the feature film section, winning both Best Story and Best Screenplay for writers Karan Tejpal, Gaurav Dhingra and Swapnil Salkar.

“In this era of AI, I am happy to see so many living, breathing, whole human beings,” said lyricist and SWA General Secretary, Raj Shekhar, at the ceremony, which presented 15 honours across feature films, web series, television, and lyrics.

“I am also very happy to tell you that 2026 will be a historic year when Indian screenwriters will get their royalties for the first time. A 12-year-long battle has been fought and thanks to the Screenwriters Rights Association of India (SRAI), an amount is coming from two Latin American countries, Uruguay and Chile. But even with this small amount, a big path to the future opens up,” Shekhar added.

Smita Singh won Best Story in the Web Drama category for ‘Khauf’. Sudip Sharma, Abhishek Banerjee, Rahul Kanojia and Tamal Sen took home Best Screenplay for ‘Paatal Lok – Season 2’.

In television categories, Rajesh Joshi and Shabia Walia won Best Story for ‘Pushpa Impossible’, while Harneet Singh bagged Best Screenplay for ‘Itti Si Khushi’. Sneha Desai and Tushar Ishwer won Best Dialogue for ‘Pushpa Impossible’.

Aranya Sahay received the Best Debut award for ‘Humans in the Loop’, while Gulzar won Best Lyrics in the feature film category for ‘Hum Fanaa’ from ‘Gustaakh Ishq’
