Billion and realme TechLife have partnered with CloudTV to bring its new CTS-certified Smart TV operating system, thunderOS, to consumers in India. The partnership went live yesterday, with Smart TVs powered by thunderOS available on e-commerce company Flipkart’s platform.
CloudTV, in a statement yesterday, said Billion and realme TechLife are the first Smart TV brands to offer thunderOS. The operating system brings access to YouTube, Amazon Prime Video and several other OTT apps, along with live TV channels, gaming and other entertainment options.
thunderOS offers more than 350 live channels, over 130 OTT and other apps, and more than 45 gaming apps. It also supports DVB-S satellite connectivity and more than 800 free-to-air TV channels, giving users access to a wider range of entertainment content.
CloudTV said it is India’s first TV operating system (OS), developed by Mumbai-based software company CloudWalker Streaming Technologies.
The operating system also comes with CloudTV’s AI-powered voice assistant, Bolt, which allows users to search and navigate their TV using voice commands. Other features include SmartAudio, which adjusts sound based on the genre of the content being watched, and personalised recommendations based on recent viewing.
For families, the operating system offers Kids Mode with curated, child-friendly content. It also features PC Mode, allowing users to use their TV as a larger screen for browsing, editing, creating and other tasks.
“India’s TV industry has long relied on operating systems built for other markets, and that gap is exactly where thunderOS comes in. We’ve built a platform from the ground up to solve for what Indian consumers and manufacturers actually need,” said Abhijeet Rajpurohit, Co-founder and COO of CloudTV.
CloudTV said its technology currently powers more than 8 million devices and reaches over 16 million viewers across India. It added it works with more than 250 Smart TV brands and over 150 app partners as part of its connected TV ecosystem.
Billion is a consumer technology brand focused on accessible pricing, selected technology and pan-India availability, while realme TechLife offers a range of smart consumer technology products.
