‘Bigg Boss Tamil’ S9 has opened to a phenomenal response on JioHotstar, registering a record-breaking start and setting the tone for a blockbuster festive season. Streaming exclusively on the platform, the show’s opening day recorded a cumulative watch time of 7.8 crore minutes, achieving 1.74 times higher reach than its previous edition.
Hosted once again by Vijay Sethupathi, who returns for his second consecutive year, the show continues to be one of Tamil Nadu’s most beloved entertainment franchises. This year’s edition introduces several new features that make the viewing experience more immersive and participatory.
JioHotstar has rolled out a 24×7 live chat feed and a dedicated Fanzone, ensuring fans stay connected to every twist, turn, and emotion as they unfold in real time. For the first time in Tamil, the platform has also launched ‘Meme the Moment’, a unique feature that lets viewers create and share memes instantly from standout show moments—bridging pop culture with interactive fandom like never before.
Connected TVs accounted for nearly 47 percent of total opening-day watch time, highlighting the growing shift among Tamil audiences toward large-screen, family-viewing experiences.
Commenting on the strong opening, Krishnan Kutty, Head of Cluster, Entertainment (South), JioStar, said,“We believe the future of entertainment lies in creating experiences. The overwhelming response to Bigg Boss Tamil this season reflects how audiences are embracing interactive and participatory formats. It demonstrates how technology can transform engagement, turning passive viewing into active participation. By allowing fans to interact, share, and shape their own experiences, we’re setting a new benchmark for how content, community, and brands come together in meaningful ways.”
The season is title sponsored by Healthy Grocer, with Asian Paints, Maruti Suzuki, and Head & Shoulders as co-presenters. Denver joins as co-powered sponsor, Dazzler as Beauty Partner, and Jar as Special Partner. Associate partners include Merino Laminates, Ibaco, Acko, Snack & Snack, Drexo, Kepp, and Jayachandran.
After record-smashing launches of ‘Bigg Boss’ in Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and now Tamil, JioHotstar continues to redefine how Indian audiences experience reality entertainment—through interactive storytelling, real-time engagement, and multi-device viewing.
With such a massive opening, ‘Bigg Boss Tamil’ 9 is poised to make this festive October one to remember for fans and brands alike.
