Streaming platform ZEE5 on Friday announced that its upcoming original film, ‘Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas’, starring Arshad Warsi and Jitendra Kumar, will premiere on the service on October 17. The announcement has generated excitement among fans of suspense and thriller genres ahead of its digital release.
A PTI report stated that the film is produced by Jio Studios in association with Baweja Studios and Dog ‘n’ Bone Pictures. Directed by Akshay Shere, the story is described as an intense chase thriller set in Robertsganj, Uttar Pradesh, promising a mix of high-stakes action and gripping suspense.
In the film, Warsi plays Inspector Vishwas Bhagwat, a troubled cop grappling with personal demons while investigating a string of brutal murders. Meanwhile, Jitendra Kumar, known for his acclaimed role in Panchayat, takes on a completely different avatar as Sameer, an unassuming young man hiding unexpected complexities. The dynamic between the two lead characters is expected to be a key highlight of the narrative.
The collaboration between the production houses and ZEE5 reflects the streaming platform’s continued focus on delivering diverse and compelling original content to Indian audiences. With its mix of crime, suspense, and edge-of-the-seat action, ‘Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas’ aims to appeal to thriller enthusiasts and a wider OTT viewership.
The film’s October 17 release adds to ZEE5’s growing portfolio of original films and series, underscoring the platform’s strategy to offer engaging, high-quality entertainment across genres directly to viewers’ screens.
