Marvel Studios set the stage abuzz at CinemaCon 2026 with the unveiling of the first full-length trailer for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, drawing an enthusiastic response from theatre owners and industry insiders. The footage delivered several crowd-pleasing moments, with the biggest highlight being the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers and Robert Downey Jr. appearing unmasked as Doctor Doom.
The reveal marks a significant moment for Marvel fans, especially with Downey Jr stepping into a completely new role after famously portraying Iron Man for over a decade. His previous character’s arc came to a close in 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’, making his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a different avatar all the more notable.
According to reports from the event, Downey Jr took to the stage to the Rolling Stones’ track “Sympathy for the Devil,” receiving a strong reaction from the audience. Addressing the crowd, he expressed his excitement about reuniting with the team, adding that stepping back into the universe in a new character was something he hadn’t imagined.
The trailer itself reportedly leans into high-stakes storytelling and large-scale action, hinting at a darker narrative direction for the franchise. The inclusion of familiar faces alongside new character arcs signals a fresh chapter for the Avengers saga, while still drawing on the nostalgia and legacy of earlier films.
With ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, Marvel appears to be doubling down on spectacle and character reinvention, setting the stage for what could be one of the most talked-about releases in the coming slate of superhero films.
