Netflix has officially announced that Season 2 of ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ will premiere on June 25, giving fans a return date to the fantasy world inspired by the popular Nickelodeon animated series.
According to an ANI report, the streaming platform revealed the release date along with a behind-the-scenes featurette, offering a glimpse into the making of the upcoming season. The show, which debuted in 2024, was earlier renewed for two additional seasons, with the story set to conclude with Season 3, mirroring the arc of the original series.
The new season continues the journey of Aang, played by Gordon Cormier, alongside Kiawentiio as Katara and Ian Ousley as Sokka. As the Avatar, Aang possesses the ability to control all four elements — air, water, earth and fire — and after mastering waterbending in Season 1, he now turns to earthbending while continuing to evade the Fire Nation.
Season 2 also introduces a key fan-favourite character, Toph, the blind earthbender, portrayed by Miyako. Meanwhile, Dallas Liu returns as Prince Zuko, alongside Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Uncle Iroh, Elizabeth Yu as Princess Azula, Momona Tamada as Ty Lee, and Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, further expanding the show’s ensemble.
The series has undergone a leadership shift behind the scenes, with Albert Kim, who developed the show and served as showrunner for Season 1, stepping down in April. Christine Boylan and Jabbar Raisani will now lead the project as executive producers, with Kim continuing to remain associated as an executive producer.
Seasons 2 and 3 were produced back-to-back, with the second season wrapping production in May 2025 and work on the final chapter beginning shortly after. With the story now moving deeper into Aang’s journey and introducing pivotal characters, expectations remain high as the live-action adaptation builds on the foundation laid in its debut season.
