Malayalam star Tovino Thomas is set to return to the big screen in a striking new role with his upcoming period drama ‘Pallichattambi’, scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on April 9, 2026. The makers unveiled the film’s first-look motion poster on Tuesday, offering audiences a glimpse into Thomas’ transformed on-screen persona and officially announcing the release date.
According to an IANS report, ‘Pallichattambi’ is being mounted as a big-budget period film and will release across multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Directed by Dijo Jose Antony, the film is positioned as a pan-Indian theatrical outing, marking a significant step in Thomas’ expanding footprint beyond the Malayalam film industry.
Tovino Thomas, who earned widespread acclaim and national recognition with the superhero film ‘Minnal Murali’, has steadily built a reputation for choosing diverse and challenging roles. With ‘Pallichattambi’, he steps into a period narrative set in the 1950s and 1960s, a setting that allows the actor to explore a new cinematic space while appealing to a broader audience base.
The film is jointly produced by World Wide Films and C Qube Bros Entertainments, and is scripted by S. Suresh Babu. The first-look motion poster, which dropped online earlier in the day, highlights the film’s period tone and presents Thomas in a rugged, intense avatar, hinting at a story rooted in history and drama.
‘Pallichattambi’ also features Kayadu Lohar as the female lead and boasts a strong supporting cast that includes Vijayaraghavan, Sudheer Karamana, Baburaj, Vinod Kedamangalam, and Prashanth Alexander, among others. The narrative is set against a carefully recreated historical backdrop, with the makers focusing on authenticity in visual design and storytelling to capture the cultural essence of the era.
On the technical front, cinematography is handled by Tijo Tomy, while music is composed by Jakes Bejoy. Editing duties rest with Sreejith Sarang, and production design has been led by Dileep Nath. Costume design is overseen by Manjusha Radhakrishnan, with makeup by Rasheed Ahammed. Meghasyam and Thanzeer serve as associate producers on the project.
The film’s extended crew includes Renit Raj and Kiran Raphael as chief associate directors, Sync Cinema for sound design, and Yellowtooths for poster design. With its pan-Indian release strategy and Thomas’ evolving star power, ‘Pallichattambi’ has already begun generating strong interest among fans and industry observers alike, well ahead of its April 2026 release.
