Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma and Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli have increased their target for COVID-19 relief to Rs. 11 crores as people and entrepreneurs came forward extensively to donate towards helping Indians battling the pandemic.
Virat and Anushka had started the fundraising campaign #InThisTogether with the intent to raise Rs. 7 crores initially.
The couple announced that they will set up a fundraiser to collect Rs. 7 crores for medical resources and said, “As our country battles the second wave of Covid-19, and our healthcare systems are facing extreme challenges, it breaks my heart to see our people suffering. So, Virat and I have initiated a campaign #InThisTogether, with Ketto, to raise funds for Covid-19 relief. We shall all overcome this crisis together. Please step forward to support India and Indians. Your contribution will help in saving lives during this critical time.”
The couple started the initiative by donating INR Rs. 2 crores themselves and within 7 days the campaign managed to surpass its initial target.
