Actor-filmmaker Anupam Kher yesterday said he is humbled by the response to his latest directorial ‘Tanvi The Great’ at its world premiere screening at Marche du Film in Cannes.
The film, according to a PTI report from New Delhi, produced by Anupam Kher Studios in collaboration with the NFDC, was screened at the Cannes market during the ongoing Cannes Film Festival on Saturday.
Starring debutante Shubhangi Dutt in the title role, the film has music by Oscar winner MM Keeravaani and lyrics by Kausar Munir. The film takes a fresh look at autism.
In an Instagram post, Kher said, “I am deeply touched and humbled by the emotional response of the audiences from all countries last night at the #WorldPremiere of #TanviTheGreat. They all said it has a universal theme and it Touched their heart. They loved everything specially the music of the film by the maestro @mmkeeravaani Sir. Waiting for all of you to witness the love, magic and labour of our film on 18th July!! See you in the THEATRES . Love and prayers always. Jai Hind! ”
Nihar Palwe’s Short in Straight 8 Competition: In an another report on the ongoing Cannes Film Festival, which in recent years has seen an uptick in interests in things Indian, PTI stated that Nihar Palwe’s short film ‘The Storm, The Calm, The Madness, The Magic’ has been officially selected as one of the top eight films globally in the Straight 8 competition, following which it will premiere at the 2025 Festival.
The film will have its Cannes premiere on May 19 at Cinema Olympia, followed by its world premiere at BFI IMAX in Londoh on May 24, according to a press release.
Straight 8 is a UK-based filmmaking challenge where participants must shoot a film on a single Super 8mm cartridge, edited entirely in-camera, with sound submitted blind and no post-production. Out of hundreds of entries from around the world, only the top eight are selected for premiere at Cannes, the release added.
