Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala is set to become the epicenter of India’s AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics) and XR (Extended Reality) industries as AniMela and Animation Masters Summit (AMS) merge forces to host the AniMela-AMS Festival 2025.
This event, a collaboration with the Society of AVGC-XR Institutes in Kerala (SAIK) and Annecy International Film Festival, is scheduled for March 6–9, 2025.
This unique partnership brings together two of India’s most celebrated platforms — AniMela by AVAF, launched two years ago, and AMS by Toonz Media Group, which has been a prestigious global platform since 1999.
The festival aims to highlight innovation, foster collaboration, and create opportunities for students and professionals alike in India’s burgeoning creative sector.
The strategic partnership with Annecy International Film Festival, a leading global animation event, marks a significant milestone. This collaboration will attract international industry leaders to engage with India’s talent pool. Mickael Marin, Director of the Annecy Festival, shared, “Annecy is proud to support the second edition of this ambitious festival, marking a new chapter with its move to Thiruvananthapuram. This partnership connects the global animation community with India’s vibrant industry.”
P Jayakumar, CEO of Toonz Media Group and SAIK President, stated, “This collaboration with AniMela, AMS, and Annecy represents a momentous step forward for India’s AVGC and XR sectors. The festival will highlight the latest technologies while fostering international partnerships.”
