Star Plus and JioHotstar are all set to launch ‘India Ke Top 1%’, the Indian adaptation of the globally acclaimed game show format ‘The 1% Club’, on September 5 as part of their festive programming line-up.
Hosted by Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor, the show promises to bring a fresh twist to the quiz show genre by focusing on logic, observation and common sense rather than general knowledge.
According to an IANS report, ‘India Ke Top 1%’ is based on the internationally successful format that has already been adapted in several countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Greece, Australia, Israel, Turkey, Ukraine, Mexico and the United States. With its Indian debut, the makers aim to offer audiences an engaging family game show where viewers of all age groups can participate from the comfort of their homes.
The show was recently unveiled at a grand launch event hosted by Star Plus, attended by industry leaders, dignitaries and special guests. The event reflected the scale of one of the channel’s biggest non-fiction launches. Unlike conventional quiz shows that test participants on facts and trivia, ‘India Ke Top 1%’ challenges contestants through puzzles that assess logical thinking, observation skills and presence of mind, making it an interactive experience for both contestants and viewers.
Positioned as a unique entertainment format, the show shifts the spotlight from what people know to how they think. Every challenge is designed to encourage problem-solving and quick decision-making, allowing families watching at home to play along with every question and enjoy a shared game-night experience.
Sharing his excitement ahead of the premiere, Anil Kapoor said he was delighted to announce that ‘India Ke Top 1%’ will premiere on September 5. He described the show’s launch event as a memorable experience and said interacting with distinguished guests and watching them enjoy the game reflected the true spirit of the format.
Kapoor said the show is unlike anything audiences have seen before because it is not about knowledge but about the way people think. According to him, every challenge tests observation, logic, presence of mind and the ability to stay calm under pressure. He added that viewers at home will also get the opportunity to play along and discover how their own minds work, making the show both entertaining and thought-provoking.
‘India Ke Top 1%’ will premiere on September 5 and will be available on Star Plus and JioHotstar. The makers believe the format will offer Indian audiences a refreshing and engaging television experience by combining entertainment with logic-based challenges for the entire family.
