The Gujarati blockbuster ‘Fakt Purusho Maate’, which charmed audiences in theatres with its unique blend of humour, emotion, and social insight, is now set to reach viewers across the country as it makes its digital premiere on JOJO from July 25, 2025.
Directed by Jay Bodas and Parth Trivedi, the film explores the quirky yet heartwarming premise of a traditional patriarch returning from the afterlife to meddle in his grandson’s love life. Starring Darshan Jariwala, Yash Soni, Esha Kansara and featuring a special cameo by Amitabh Bachchan, ‘Fakt Purusho Maate’ is a modern-day family fantasy with an old-world soul. The film combines generational conflict, supernatural elements, and contemporary themes in a way that feels fresh, relevant, and deeply entertaining.
According to an official press release, the film follows Purshottam (played by Darshan Jariwala), a recently deceased patriarch who is granted divine powers during the 16-day Shraadh period. From the afterlife, he seeks to stop his grandson Brijesh (Yash Soni) from marrying Radhika (Esha Kansara)—a progressive and independent woman who doesn’t align with his traditional ideals. What follows is a clash of ideologies, marked by comic chaos, emotional revelations, and soul-searching moments that reflect the changing dynamics within Indian families.
The highlight of the film is undoubtedly the surprise cameo by Amitabh Bachchan, who plays God. Though brief, his presence lends weight to the story’s spiritual arc. His baritone voice and sharp dialogue become a pivotal moment in the narrative, serving as both divine guidance and cinematic delight.
Speaking about the film’s streaming release, Darshan Jariwala said, “Fakt Purusho Maate is one of those films that really makes you laugh and think at the same time. Playing Purshottam was a joy because he truly believes he’s doing the right thing, even when he’s completely out of touch. That’s what makes him real.”
Esha Kansara added, “Radhika is calm, assertive, and relatable. This story speaks about equality and understanding without being preachy. I’m thrilled it’s coming on JOJO, where it can now start real conversations in living rooms.”
Founder and CEO of JOJO, Dhruvin Shah, commented, “At JOJO, our vision is to spotlight stories that resonate across generations. Fakt Purusho Maate is one of our most significant premieres yet. It’s rooted in culture, layered with humour, and delivers a message that’s both timely and timeless.”
The film also stars Mitra Gadhvi and Aarti Vyas Patel in key roles, with music by Kedar-Bhargav that enhances its emotional and comedic tones. With praise from critics and audiences alike, Fakt Purusho Maate is more than just a comedy it’s a gentle but powerful reflection on change, identity, and acceptance within Indian families.
Streaming from July 25, 2025, exclusively on JOJO, the film invites audiences to witness a celestial twist on familial bonds. Whether you’re tuning in for Bachchan’s divine cameo, the comic conflicts, or its emotional resonance, this film promises laughter, introspection, and a fresh wave of Gujarati storytelling.
