Amazon India has launched its new Fire TV Stick HD in India, describing it as its slimmest and fastest HD streaming stick so far. Priced at Rs 4,999, the device is aimed at helping users turn existing televisions into smart TVs with support for Full HD streaming, HDR10+, Wi-Fi 6 and Alexa voice controls.
According to a company statement, the new Fire TV Stick HD is over 30 per cent faster on average than the previous generation device. Amazon said the streaming stick has also been redesigned to be 30 per cent slimmer than other Fire TV sticks in its range, making it more compact and portable.
The device plugs directly into a television’s HDMI port and is designed to work with compatible HD TVs supporting 1080p or 720p resolution. Amazon said users only need an internet connection and a TV with an HDMI input to access streaming apps, live news, sports and entertainment content through the Fire TV interface.
Amazon said the Fire TV Stick HD comes bundled with the Alexa Voice Remote, which allows users to search for content, launch apps and control playback using voice commands. The remote can also control compatible televisions, soundbars and A/V receivers, including power and volume functions.
The company added that the streaming device supports Bluetooth connectivity, allowing pairing with compatible Bluetooth speakers, headphones and gaming controllers. It also supports smart home controls through Alexa, enabling users to manage connected devices such as cameras and other compatible smart home products directly from the television screen.
Amazon said the Fire TV Stick HD supports popular video formats including HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG, and is powered by a quad-core 1.7 GHz processor with 8 GB of internal storage. The device also features dual-band Wi-Fi support aimed at improving streaming quality and reducing connection drops.
