Prasanth Varma, in collaboration with RKD Studios, unveiled the first look of Akshaye Khanna in the upcoming period drama ‘Mahakali’, where the actor will portray the enigmatic character of Asuraguru Shukracharya. The announcement was shared by RKD Studios on their X handle, giving audiences a glimpse of Khanna’s striking transformation for the role.
According to an ANI report, the first look poster presents Khanna with a flowing silver beard, ascetic robes, and piercing eyes, embodying the mystic and complex aura of Shukracharya, a figure carrying the wisdom of both gods and demons.
The studio captioned the reveal, “In the shadows of gods, rose the brightest flame of rebellion, Presenting The Enigmatic Akshaye Khanna as the eternal ‘Asuraguru SHUKRACHARYA’ from Mahakali.” The film is directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru and created by Prasanth Varma.
Akshaye Khanna, who was last seen impressing audiences as Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in Chhaava, will next be seen in Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh. The upcoming film, directed by Aditya Dhar of ‘Uri: The ‘Surgical Strike’ fame, features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal.
The first look of ‘Dhurandhar’ has already generated buzz for its intense action sequences and high-octane confrontations between Ranveer Singh and the film’s seasoned stars.
In addition to its powerful performances, ‘Mahakali’ promises a visually captivating experience, blending mythology and historical drama. With Akshaye Khanna’s compelling portrayal of Shukracharya, audiences can expect a character-driven narrative that explores the darker, mystical side of legend. The film is slated to release in theatres on December 5, 2025.
This latest project further cements Khanna’s versatility, showcasing his ability to delve into complex historical and mythological roles, while continuing to expand the horizon of Indian period cinema.
