Telecom giant Airtel faced a widespread outage on Thursday, leaving users across India grappling with disruptions in both mobile and broadband services. The outage rendered many unable to make calls, access mobile data, or use the internet, sparking frustration among customers.
According to Downdetector.com, a website that tracks service outages, the issue impacted a significant portion of Airtel’s user base:
• 46 percent reported a total blackout.
• 32 percent faced no signal issues.
• 22 percent encountered mobile connectivity problems.
The exact cause of the outage remains unknown, and Airtel has yet to release an official statement addressing the disruption.
Irate users took to social media platforms, especially X (formerly Twitter), to voice their dissatisfaction. Many complained about dropped calls, slow internet speeds, and a complete loss of connectivity.
This isn’t the first time Airtel has faced such widespread disruptions. Similar incidents have occurred in the past, leading to increased scrutiny of the telecom provider’s reliability, especially as it expands its 5G services.
With no official comment from Airtel yet, affected customers are left waiting for answers and restoration of their services.
