As municipal elections gather momentum across Maharashtra, including the keenly watched Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls, Aaj Tak is set to bring civic politics into sharp focus with a day-long political conclave titled ‘Mumbai Manthan’. The event will be held on January 8, 2026, and aims to capture the evolving political and governance narrative shaping urban Maharashtra.
According to a press release, ‘Mumbai Manthan’ will serve as a platform for wide-ranging discussions on civic challenges, governance priorities, development agendas and the broader political equations influencing municipal elections across cities and towns in the state. The conclave is expected to facilitate open, issue-led conversations, bringing together voices from both the ruling establishment and the opposition to reflect on the future of grassroots democracy and urban administration.
The speaker lineup features a cross-section of senior political leadership, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Aaditya Thackeray, Sanjay Raut, Ashish Shelar, Supriya Sule, Praful Patel, Varsha Gaikwad and Varun Sardesai, among others. Their participation is expected to provide diverse perspectives on the political dynamics at play as Maharashtra’s cities prepare for a new phase of local governance.
The conclave will also see participation from prominent voices in business and public policy. Industry leaders such as Niranjan Hiranandani and Nilesh Shah will join the discussions, alongside noted election analysts Sanjay Kumar, Pradeep Gupta and Amitabh Tiwari, who are set to present data-driven insights into voter behaviour, electoral trends and public sentiment.
With ‘Mumbai Manthan’, Aaj Tak reinforces its focus on fostering informed public discourse and democratic engagement. The conclave seeks to offer citizens a clearer understanding of the issues, policies and leadership choices that are likely to shape Maharashtra’s urban future, with Mumbai at the centre of this civic and political churn.
