The world television premiere of ‘Dhurandhar’ on the JioStar network has delivered a record-breaking performance, reaching more than 53 million viewers and emerging as the biggest television movie premiere in recent years. Telecast across Star Gold, Star Gold 2 and Colors Cineplex, the film set a new benchmark for television entertainment and highlighted the medium’s continued ability to deliver massive audience reach.

According to a JioStar press release, the premiere recorded the highest reach for a World Television Premiere in the last five years. The network said the film’s television audience, achieved within approximately four hours of telecast, was 1.4 times higher than its cumulative theatrical footfall generated during its three-month run in cinemas.

The performance further underscores the growing trend of audiences consuming blockbuster content across multiple platforms, with television continuing to play a significant role in expanding a film’s reach beyond theatres.

Commenting on the milestone, Alok Jain, Head – Hindi & English Entertainment Business (Streaming, TV & Studios), JioStar, said the response to the film’s television debut reflects the enduring appeal of compelling storytelling and the strength of the network’s distribution ecosystem.

“The phenomenal response to Dhurandhar’s world television premiere underscores the enduring power of great storytelling. Reaching over 53 million viewers is a remarkable milestone and reflects the scale and strength of our network,” Jain said.

He added that the film demonstrates how audiences today engage with content across different screens, allowing entertainment properties to extend their lifespan and impact. Jain described ‘Dhurandhar’ as the biggest Hindi film premiere on Indian television in 2026 and said the network remains committed to bringing compelling stories to audiences across platforms.

The premiere also attracted a strong roster of advertisers, highlighting brands’ confidence in the reach and engagement offered by JioStar’s movie network. Thums Up was the co-presenting sponsor, while Sting and Wonder Cement came on board as co-powered sponsors. Google Search partnered as a special sponsor, with AMFI, Surf Excel, Cadbury Dairy Milk and Blenders Pride Packaged Drinking Water joining as associate sponsors.

Produced by B62 Studios and presented by Jio Studios, ‘Dhurandhar’ features an ensemble cast led by Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan and Sara Arjun. The film is written, directed and co-produced by Aditya Dhar, while Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar serve as producers.

With its strong television debut, ‘Dhurandhar’ has reinforced the continuing power of broadcast television to deliver scale, reach and mass audience engagement for blockbuster films, even in an increasingly fragmented entertainment landscape.
