India’s Chess team for the Esports Nations Cup (ENC) 2026 is now complete. grandmaster Mitrabha Guha has secured his place in the tournament after finishing at the top of the regional qualifier. He will join grandmaster Nihal Sarin, who had already qualified earlier, to represent India at the global esports event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
According to a NODWIN Gaming press release, ENC 2026 will bring together 128 of the world’s best Chess players, who will compete for a prize pool of USD 600,000 (around Rs 5.7 crore). the Chess competition will be held from November 2 to 8.
Mitrabha earned his spot after an outstanding performance in the qualifier. He remained unbeaten throughout the Swiss stage, recording six wins and three draws. He then won his knockout matches to confirm his place in the finals.
The 24-year-old grandmaster is currently in strong form, having won the commonwealth chess championship earlier this year. He said he is excited about the opportunity and plans to prepare hard for the tournament, where he will face some of the strongest players in the world.
Several top international stars, including Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura and Alireza Firouzja, are expected to compete at ENC 2026, making it one of the biggest Chess events of the year.
Meanwhile, India is also preparing teams for other esports titles such as DOTA 2, MOBA Legends: 5v5 and Rocket League as the country gears up for the prestigious competition.
