HBO Max has elevated marketing executive Ruhee Patel to the position of Director, Originals Marketing, marking another significant milestone in her career with the streaming platform. Patel announced her promotion through a LinkedIn post, sharing her enthusiasm about taking on the expanded leadership role.
The promotion comes after more than six years with HBO Max, during which Patel steadily advanced through the company’s marketing ranks, playing an important role in shaping promotional strategies for some of the platform’s original content offerings.
Patel joined HBO Max in June 2020 as Strategy Coordinator for HBO Max Originals Marketing, shortly after the streaming service’s launch. Over the years, she progressed through a series of increasingly senior positions, including Strategy Manager for HBO Max Originals Marketing, where she contributed to the development and execution of content marketing campaigns designed to strengthen audience engagement and platform visibility.
Most recently, Patel served as Senior Manager, Marketing Strategy for HBO & Max Originals, a role she held from April 2024 until her latest promotion. In that capacity, she oversaw strategic marketing initiatives and led promotional campaigns for the network’s premium original programming, helping drive awareness and audience interest across multiple content launches.
Her elevation to Director of Originals Marketing reflects HBO Max’s continued focus on strengthening its marketing leadership as competition intensifies in the global streaming market. The role is expected to place Patel at the forefront of marketing strategy for the platform’s growing slate of original series, films and premium content offerings.
Before joining HBO Max, Patel spent nearly three years with Paramount Pictures, where she worked as a Brand Marketing Assistant after beginning her journey with the company as an intern in its Home Media Distribution division. Her experience at Paramount provided early exposure to studio marketing and content promotion strategies.
Patel’s professional background also includes roles across marketing, communications, content and design. Earlier in her career, she was associated with organizations such as the UCLA Cultural Affairs Commission, Cavalry Public Relations, Daily Bruin and Kingston, helping build a diverse foundation in brand communications and audience engagement.
Her promotion comes at a time when streaming platforms are increasingly investing in sophisticated content marketing strategies to differentiate their original programming in a crowded entertainment landscape. Industry observers view leadership transitions such as Patel’s as indicative of the growing importance of data-driven and audience-focused marketing in the streaming era.
