Hollywood star Hugh Jackman is set to take on another iconic role as he joins a new film adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic adventure novel ‘Treasure Island’.
According to an ANI report, Jackman will play the legendary pirate long John Silver in the upcoming movie, which will be directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ridley Scott. the project marks the first collaboration between the actor and the celebrated director on the beloved adventure story.
Originally published in 1883, ‘Treasure Island’ is considered one of the most famous adventure novels ever written. the story follows young Jim Hawkins, who discovers a treasure map and embarks on a dangerous sea voyage in search of hidden treasure. along the way, he encounters Long John Silver, one of literature’s most memorable pirate characters.
The new adaptation will be based on Stevenson’s classic novel and is expected to offer a fresh take on the timeless tale. the screenplay has been written by Emmy-winning writer Jack Thorne, known for his work on acclaimed projects including ‘Adolescence’. Ridley Scott will also serve as a producer alongside Michael Pruss under the Scott Free banner.
Jackman, who has gained worldwide recognition for portraying Wolverine in the X-Men franchise, continues to add iconic characters to his filmography. over the years, he has earned praise for performances in films such as ‘Les Misérables’, ‘The Greatest Showman’, and ‘Van Helsing’.
