Indian content continues to strengthen its global presence on streaming platforms, with Prime Video’s newly launched weekly global rankings highlighting the growing international appeal of locally produced stories. The latest rankings for the week of May 25–31 saw several Indian Originals feature prominently alongside some of the platform’s biggest international titles.
According to a Prime Video press release, the streaming service has introduced its first-ever weekly global rankings of the most-watched Original films and series, offering audiences and industry observers a snapshot of the content attracting the highest viewership worldwide. The inaugural list underscores the increasing reach of Indian productions, which are now competing directly with globally recognized franchises and international originals.
Leading the charge is the Indian Original film ‘System’, which emerged as one of the platform’s biggest performers during the week. The film secured the No. 2 position on Prime Video’s global Top 10 Films chart and also claimed the top spot among non-English Prime Original films worldwide. Its strong performance reflects the growing appetite for Indian stories among international audiences.
Indian series also made their presence felt in the non-English television rankings. ‘Matka King’ secured the seventh position, while ‘Exam’ followed closely at eighth place in the list of most-watched non-English Prime Original series. Both titles have drawn attention for their distinctive narratives and strong audience engagement, contributing to the expanding footprint of Indian content on the global streaming landscape.
The rankings place these Indian Originals alongside internationally popular titles such as Off Campus, Spider-Noir, The Boys, Citadel and Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, highlighting the increasingly competitive and interconnected nature of global streaming viewership.
The latest rankings reinforce a broader trend that has been gathering momentum in recent years, with Indian Originals finding audiences well beyond domestic markets. As streaming platforms continue to invest in local-language productions, titles such as ‘System’, ‘Matka King’ and ‘Exam’ are demonstrating that culturally rooted stories can resonate across borders when backed by strong storytelling and universal themes.
With Prime Video now providing regular global viewership rankings, the performance of Indian Originals will be closely watched by the industry as a measure of the country’s growing influence in the international entertainment ecosystem. The latest results suggest that Indian storytelling is not only attracting viewers at home but is increasingly becoming part of the global streaming conversation.
