Bangla ZEE5 has released the official trailer of its upcoming original action thriller ‘Taarkata’, offering viewers a glimpse into a gripping world of crime, revenge, mystery and psychological conflict ahead of its premiere on June 12.
According to a Bangla ZEE5 press release, the series blends action, dark humour and psychological intrigue, while exploring the consequences of revenge and the emotional scars left behind by the past. The trailer introduces audiences to a narrative filled with hidden truths, unresolved tensions and interconnected lives, setting the stage for a suspense-driven story packed with unexpected twists.
Directed by Samik Roy Chowdhury, ‘Taarkata’ revolves around Agni, played by Vikram Chatterjee, a once-celebrated police officer whose life takes an unforeseen turn. As events unfold, Agni finds himself drawn into a complex web of secrets, betrayal and long-buried conflicts that threaten to reshape everything he knows.
The series features a strong ensemble cast, including Priyanka Sarkar as Chhanda, Meiyang Chang as Dodo, Joydip Mukherjee as Ashok Chowdhury, Satyam Bhattacharya as Bumba Bagchi and Ayush Das as Tintin. Together, the characters form the backbone of a story that delves deep into human emotions, memory and the pursuit of justice.
‘Taarkata’ also marks a significant milestone for Bengali entertainment as the first production under Vikram Chatterjee Films. The project is further notable for introducing actor and television presenter Meiyang Chang in his first Bengali-language production, bringing together a unique mix of talent and creative collaboration.
Speaking about the series, Rusa Banerjee, Business Head of Bangla ZEE5, said the platform remains committed to presenting distinctive Bengali stories that resonate with audiences. She noted that ‘Taarkata’ combines a compelling storyline, layered characters and strong performances, creating an immersive viewing experience for viewers in Bengal and beyond.
Director Samik Roy Chowdhury described the series as much more than a conventional thriller. According to him, the story explores how memories and emotional wounds can influence a person’s actions and drive them towards revenge. He added that while the trailer offers a glimpse into the narrative, the series itself unfolds through multiple layers of mystery and emotional complexity, with every revelation altering the course of the story.
Actor and producer Vikram Chatterjee highlighted the significance of the project as his debut production venture. He said the team worked collectively to bring the story to life on a scale that would offer Bengali OTT audiences something fresh and ambitious. Calling the journey both enriching and challenging, Chatterjee expressed hope that viewers would connect with the emotion, intensity and suspense embedded in the narrative.
The trailer has already generated considerable interest among viewers by teasing a story where every character appears to be hiding a secret and where the past continues to influence the present. Through its blend of mystery, action and emotional drama, ‘Taarkata’ aims to offer audiences a suspenseful and immersive storytelling experience.
Set against a backdrop of revenge, self-discovery and hidden truths, the series promises a compelling mix of psychological tension and action-driven storytelling. ‘Taarkata’ will premiere exclusively on Bangla ZEE5 on June 12, 2026.
