Zee Entertainment Enterprises is set to strengthen its presence in the sports broadcasting space with the launch of a dedicated sports channel portfolio under the brand name Unite8 Sports, marking a major strategic push by the network into live sports programming.
The company announced that it plans to launch four new sports channels — Unite8 Sports 1 and Unite8 Sports 1 HD in Hindi, along with Unite8 Sports 2 and Unite8 Sports 2 HD in English. The development is part of Z’s broader strategy to expand its footprint in the rapidly growing sports broadcasting ecosystem in India.
The announcement comes at a time when sports viewership across television and digital platforms continues to witness strong growth, driven by rising interest in live and appointment-based content. Z said the new sports network will focus on offering a wide range of sporting events across football, kabaddi, cricket, badminton, wrestling, boxing and combat sports.
According to the company, the launch builds upon its earlier experience of broadcasting key sporting events through entertainment channels, a move that helped the network tap into the strong audience pull of live sports content.
