Netflix has dropped the trailer of its upcoming crime-comedy ‘Maa Behen’, offering a glimpse into a chaotic and hilarious story centred around a dysfunctional mother-daughter trio whose lives spiral into complete madness after a shocking incident. Packed with comedy, confusion, family drama and unexpected twists, the film is set to premiere on Netflix on June 4.
According to a Netflix press release, ‘Maa Behen’ is produced by Abundantia Entertainment in association with Opening Image Films and directed by Suresh Triveni. The film follows Rekha, Jaya and Sushma as they find themselves trying to conceal a dead body while navigating nosy neighbours, emotional breakdowns and a series of increasingly complicated situations. What begins as an ordinary family conflict soon transforms into a rollercoaster ride of panic, cover-ups and absurdly funny decisions.
The trailer introduces an eclectic set of characters, including Rekha, played by Madhuri Dixit, Jaya portrayed by Triptii Dimri, Sushma essayed by Dharna Durga, along with Ravi Kishan as Guptaji, Geetanjali Kulkarni as Guptain, Arunoday Singh as Maheshwari and Shardul Bhardwaj as Manas. The story unfolds in Adarsh Colony, where secrets, suspicions and misunderstandings fuel the comedy.
Speaking about the film, director and producer Suresh Triveni said ‘Maa Behen’ tells the story of a dysfunctional family constantly at odds with one another before a major incident throws them into complete chaos. He noted that each character brings a distinct energy to the narrative, making the family dynamic messy, unpredictable and deeply human. Triveni added that working with Netflix, Abundantia Entertainment and a talented ensemble cast made the project even more exciting.
Madhuri Dixit described Rekha as a character unlike the conventional mothers often seen in Hindi cinema. She said the role offered her an opportunity to explore a layered and unpredictable personality who, despite her flaws, is trying to hold her family together amid the turmoil. According to the actor, ‘Maa Behen’ is designed as a complete family entertainer that audiences can enjoy together.
Triptii Dimri, who plays Jaya, said her character is the responsible daughter who constantly tries to manage the chaos around her, only to find herself pulled deeper into it. She also called sharing screen space with Madhuri Dixit a surreal experience and described the project as a special homecoming, given her successful association with Netflix.
Ravi Kishan said the film gave him the opportunity to work alongside Madhuri Dixit for the first time. He praised the cast and crew, adding that the story combines humour, madness and warmth in a way that makes it stand apart. Dharna Durga, who makes her streaming debut with the film, highlighted the chemistry between the three central characters, saying their bond remains intact despite the constant fights, confusion and “kaand” that unfold throughout the story.
With a quirky premise, a star-studded cast and a healthy dose of comedy and suspense, ‘Maa Behen’ promises to deliver a wildly entertaining ride when it premieres on Netflix on June 4.
