Hollywood star Brad Pitt is set to reprise his popular role of stuntman Cliff Booth in filmmaker David Fincher’s upcoming feature film for Netflix, marking another major collaboration between the acclaimed actor and director. The film, reportedly titled ‘The Adventures of Cliff Booth’, is scheduled to release later this year and has already generated strong buzz among movie enthusiasts worldwide.
According to a PTI report yesterday, the upcoming project serves as a sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s Oscar-winning film ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’. Set against the backdrop of 1977 Hollywood, the story is expected to revisit the world of Cliff Booth, the laid-back yet mysterious stuntman played by Pitt in the original film.
Netflix announced that the movie will first get an exclusive global IMAX theatrical release beginning November 25. The film will run in theatres for two weeks before making its streaming debut on Netflix on December 23. The release strategy reflects the streamer’s growing push towards large-scale cinematic releases for major titles.
Pitt’s portrayal of Booth in ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ earned widespread acclaim and also won him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. The character became one of the standout highlights of Tarantino’s 2019 film, known for his effortless charm, humour and understated toughness.
The new project also marks Fincher’s latest collaboration with Netflix after successful titles such as ‘Mank’, ‘The Killer’ and the series ‘Mindhunter’. Fincher and Pitt have previously worked together on cult classics like ‘Fight Club’, ‘Se7en’ and ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’, making this reunion especially exciting for fans.
