Riding on the growing popularity and cultural influence of Bhojpuri entertainment, JioStar has announced a new reality series, ‘Bhojpuri Bawaal’, which promises an unfiltered look into the lives of some of the industry’s biggest stars through a first-of-its-kind “follow reality” format.
The series, to stream on JioHotstar and air on Colors TV, will feature Bhojpuri stars Pawan Singh, Dinesh Lal Yadav (Nirahua), Amrapali Dubey, Kajal Raghwani and Tej Pratap Yadav. Moving away from conventional reality television tropes, the show will not include tasks, eliminations or scripted confrontations. Instead, cameras will quietly follow the celebrities through their personal and professional journeys, capturing moments of fame, ambition, family dynamics, rivalries, celebrations and controversies.
According to a JioStar press statement, the format is designed to offer audiences a closer and more immersive understanding of the personalities behind Bhojpuri entertainment’s massive popularity. The company described Bhojpuri entertainment as one of India’s fastest-growing and most passionately followed regional industries, with a strong fan base cutting across the Hindi heartland and beyond.
Commenting on the launch, Alok Jain, Head-Hindi & English Entertainment Business (Streaming, TV & Studios), JioStar, said the platform was extending its non-fiction storytelling ambitions into newer formats.
“JioHotstar is India’s home for unscripted programming, with the widest range of non-fiction stories. We’ve built this by consistently innovating across formats—from captive reality, comedy, talent to relationship-led human dramas and many more.
“With ‘Bhojpuri Bawaal’, we’re taking that innovation into a new space: a first-of-its-kind follow-reality format that captures the real lives of biggest stars of bhojpuri industry,” Jain said.
Stressing the wider appeal of the genre, he added, “Bhojpuri entertainment is one of the most vibrant forces from the Hindi heartland, and this show brings its scale, emotion, and authenticity to a wider national audience — not just for bhojpuri people but India at large.”
JioStar said the series aims to blend celebrity access with emotional authenticity, offering viewers a raw and intimate portrayal of the stars who have helped shape Bhojpuri entertainment into a major regional cultural force.
